Notes
|
Observations from Dillon's Park (near Sorrento Point). Group of 3-5 Bottlenose Dolphins (probably four, including a juvenile/immature) noted breaching, rushing at the surface, tail slapping, herding etc off Lamb Island. Initially thought to be feeding but then confirmed as an attack on a single Harbour Porpoise. Video footage obtained. One dolphin in particular seemed to be leading the charge on attacking the porpoise (chasing it and forcing it/throwing it out of the water) while the others often appeared to stay back a short distance away or circle in for a look from time to time. The group moved off to the north towards The Forty Foot area, continuing the attack/chase on the porpoise the whole time and when lost from view.
De: Antagonists were the local Dublin BND group known as the "Molly Malones". |
