Chris Wilson

29th Aug 2015

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Chris Wilson, following a short illness. Chris was the driving force behind the IWDG Rosslare to Pembroke ferry surveys since 2008 and led most of the surveys himself.

Chris was an all round naturalist and a gentleman. He was a font of knowledge on cetaceans, seabirds and much more besides and shared this knowledge freely with all those he came in contact with.

Along with Don Conroy and Alan McGuire, Chris got together to form Wildside – an independent group devoted to celebrating the natural world and wildlife and sharing those experiences with others. In 2012 the Wildside Team recorded a radio programme on board the Isle of Inishmore during one of the ferry surveys for SouthEast Radio. That show can be listened to by clicking here.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Chris's wife Anne, who accompanied him on many Pembroke surveys, and to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
