Coole Harmonies15th Oct 2013
a family event not to be missed! Coole Harmonies are putting on their first musical production, Ocean World, on Sat Oct 19th at 6.30pm at the Kilcornan Hall (Brothers of Charity) in Clarinbridge. Ocean World is an environmental piece about a female humpback whale who invites us into her underwater home and introduces some of the other creatures with whom she shares the ocean. We observe her joy as her new-born calf arrives and the two begin the journey to northern feeding grounds.
However, man's threatening presence soon becomes apparent. Coral mining, whaling ships, commercial fishing vessels, oil spillages and domestic, industrial and nuclear wastes - under this combined assault, the ocean simply cannot sustain the quantity and variety of life it holds. The message is clear and simple: if man continues to misuse the sea, he will destroy the life in it.
Coole Harmonies are a children's choir (aged 8-13) and have been going since 2005, as part of the Coole School of Music & Arts, based in Gort, Co Galway. The musical is a mixture of song, dance and the storyline is narrated by the children. We have dancers from Fusion Dance, a dance troupe from Loughrea, and a wonderful group of musicians from Coole Music accompanying the choir.
So bring all the family - show starts at 6.30pm - tickets at the door are €5 each.
Hope to see you all there! If you cant make it please feel free to pass this on to anyone who would be interested in seeing a live musical show.
IWDG have supported this production by supplying images and meeting the children to talk about whales in Ireland and will be at the event on Saturday
