St. Nicholas’s Church Galway, on Friday 5th October, will be the venue for what promises to be an amazing concert. Coming to town are some of the Conamara’s finest musicians, singers and dancers and they will be joined by a highly talented bunch of musical friends.
Togging out on the night from Conamara will be Liz Kane, Yvonne Kane, Marie Walsh, The Hernon Family, Johnny Connolly, Colm Gannon, Kelly Gannon, Michael O’Cuaig, The Devaney Brothers, Johnny O’Halloran, Gerry Whelan and they will be joined by Mairtin O’Connor, Jimmy Higgins, Brendan O’Regan, The McCarthy Family, Mary Staunton, Conor Keane, Geraldine McNamara, Josephine Marsh, Brian O’Nuallain, Tommy Keane and a few special guests.
This concert is orgainsed by the award winning Conamara Environmental Education & Cultural Centre Letterfrack which runs the annual Conamara Bog Week and Conamara Sea Week Festivals for the past 28 years. “Due to the cut backs in the arts we are putting on this benefit concert to raise funds for our upcoming Conamara Sea Week Festival which runs from Oct 19th – 29th. We are particularly grateful to all the musicians who are giving their services free of charge and we look forward to welcoming everybody to a feast of music. We will be especially delighted to welcome families and there is a special concession ticket of 20.00 per family” says Leo Hallissey Director of CEECC.
Conamara Sea Week takes place in the Quaker village of Letterfrack. This festival which celebrates our wonderful marine environment and is wrapped in the best of Irish trad music will be officially opened, in Letterfrack Church Oct 19th at 8.30pm, by Tom Welby Mayor of County Galway who will be joined on stage by a host of young musicians for the Mol an Óige Concert.
