IWDG secure additional Core-Funding support2nd Mar 2012
IWDG are delighted to confirm receipt of generous core funding support to the value of Stg £2,000 from Scottish based BCF Technology Ltd.
Appropriately, the official presentation took place in Kilbrittain, West Cork, at the site of local fin whale skeleton on 2nd March, where BCF's Irish Sales Manager, Niamh Naughton formally handed over a cheque to IWDG. BCF announced that they will also be extending this funding to a 2nd year.
BCF Technology provides veterinary X-ray equipment, portable ultrasound scanners, X-ray machines, image management systems and ultrasound and X-ray training courses, to the animal industry in the UK and Ireland. See www.uk-ireland.bcftechnology.com
The BCF Foundation is a registered Scottish charity (SC041619) who raise and distribute funds to help other charities on behalf of BCF Technology and its staff.
The foundation raise funds through:
BCF staff working together to raise money for their chosen charities through events such as the annual BCF Charity Challenge.
Discretionary donations from BCF Technology Ltd for relevant and specific veterinary / animal industry based charities.
At the heart of the BCF success story is a passion for both cutting-edge technology and animal welfare and IWDG are confident that this new relationship is a really good "fit" as animal welfare remains an important component of our work. This funding will support our sightings and strandings schemes which are core functions within IWDG and are a vital aspect of cetacean monitoring in Irish waters.
So this is good opportunity to welcome BCF Technology on board and to also acknowledge Inis Cologne who have supported IWDG for the best part of a decade with core-funding as well as supporting Whale Watch Ireland each year.
Corporate core-funding support from industry is going to become increasingly important for IWDG in the years ahead as more traditional funding streams from agencies on both sides of the border become more difficult to source.
If you own, work for, or know of any company, anywhere, that you feel may be interested in supporting IWDG by offering Core Funding support, we'd love to hear from you and have the opportunity to perhaps make a pitch. As a registered Irish charity (CHY11163) all donations of >250 are tax deductable.
On behalf of all of us in IWDG we extend a huge thanks to BCF Foundation and to Maria Tendero, Int'l Marketing Manager, in particular for facilitating this support.
