The IWDG in collaboration with the Galway-Mayo Instiute of Technology are currently carrying out the third dedicated cetacean survey in the Cetaceans on the Frontier series.
On day 4 the team managed to get a biopsy sample from offshore bottlenose dolphins. The first sample even taken of an offshore species in Ireland. this sample is critical in elucidating population structure of bottlenose dolphins in Ireland and will help us determine whether we have 3 genetically distinct dolphin populations.
