IWDG Courses available in Co Clare17th Jun 2009 Two one-day courses are available at the end of June in Kilush, Co Clare. On 27 June an Identification and Recording Course is followed on 28 June by a Live Stranding Course.
Both courses will be held at the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Centre in Kilrush, Co Clare with a live stranding exercise in Kilkee on the Sunday afternoon.
The identification course will cover how to observe cetaceans at sea including field techniques and species identification. Weather permitting we will carry out land-based watches from Kilcredaun in the Shannon estuary and from Loop Head.
On Sunday the live stranding course will cover first aid of stranded cetaceans, organisation on the beach and refloating techniques. An exercise will be carried out on Kilkee beach with IWDG pontoons and a model bottlenose dolphin and pilot whale.
