IWDG at the Allianz Dublin Boatshow, RDS

24th Feb 2009 The IWDG have just attended our 3rd consecutive Dublin Boatshow at the RDS Simmonscourt to promote cetacean conservation and recording schemes among the boating public.

Despite the difficult economic backdrop, the Dublin Boatshow remains the biggest exhibition of its kind in Ireland, attracting thousands of mariners to the RDS. Between Wed 18th and Sun 22nd Feb the IWDG discussed conservation issues, the research work of the IWDG and how the boating community can contribute to our understanding of whales and dolphins in Irish waters.

During the five day expo, IWDG participated in the seminar programme, and delivered three public talks on Irish whales and dolphins, all of which were well attended by the public. Our stand was visited by both IWDG members and public alike and we estimate that c1,000 people visited the IWDG stand at Q13.

A huge thanks to everyone who visited us, and to those new members who joined IWDG at the Boatshow, we look forward to your becoming actively involved in IWDG events and our schemes.
