Seven species in three months for Waterford

11th Oct 2008 Although this has seemed like a fairly quiet year as far as cetacean spotting is concerned there is obviously still a wide diversity of marine mammal life to be encountered in our inshore waters.

Since 13th July and the humpback whale 'Boomerang's visit to Ardmore we have seen harbour porpoise, common, bottlenose and Risso's dolphins and minke, fin and humpback whales from our Ram Head vantage point. I wonder if there are any places in Europe who could lay claim to such diversity, and especially in such a short period of time!

Maybe not even Cork...
