Cork Risso's Dolphin found Dead

29th Jul 2002 A stranded juvenile male Risso's dolphin was found dead at Ringaskiddy, Cork Harbour on Saturday. It is thought to be the same animal who made news headlines last week when he swam up the River Lee as far as Fr. Matthew Quay.

The animal was assessed by IWDG personnel at the time and deemed to be in very poor condition. A post mortem was conducted by Dr. Emer Rogan of the IWDG on Saturday but results are not expected until laboratory tests have been completed.
